How do I get rid of woodpeckers from my wood siding?

Age old question that is difficult to remedy. First you have to rid your siding of insects. Periodic application of insecticide is necessary. You must continue to apply insecticide at intervals to completely rid your siding of hidden insects resulting in the woodpeckers going elsewhere to feed. They will return to your home every year to look for food. Once they learn that your home is not a feeding location they will look to other places. Don't be surprised if you find that they continue to return for years. A new generation of birds is sometimes the only remedy.
